From Ideas to Impact: Innovation in Business for Climate Action and Beyond

Academics, thinktank experts and industry leaders came together to discuss artificial intelligence, sustainability and climate action.

On Thursday 18 April, entrepreneurs, academic researchers and industry specialists held a series of panel discussions and workshops on climate change, artificial intelligence and creativity.

Dr Sara Jones, Director of the Centre for Creativity in Professional Practice, Bayes Business School, said: “What a wonderful and inspiring afternoon. It was great to have an opportunity to share the kinds of research done by colleagues in the Centre for Creativity in Professional Practice, and to be able to see this applied in the important context of the need for new approaches to climate action.

Huge thanks to the many passionate speakers and those who led thought-provoking workshops and presentations - especially to those from our wonderful community of MICL alumni. Great to see you in action!’

From creative thinking to panel discussions, attendees were treated to a series of panel sessions including:

  • Climate Creativity enabled by AI
  • Artificial Wisdom
  • Rights of the River
  • Where next for Creative Thinking on Climate Action, and Beyond?

As well as talks on sustainable practices, shifting toward a wellbeing-centred economy, conscious creativity and recycling.

Bayes alumna Sam Steele, Managing Director at the National Centre for Creativity enabled by AI (CebAI), at Bayes Business School, commented:

“The whole afternoon was programmed with great care to focus on climate issues. We explored an existentially important subject using three radically different formats for creative problem solving – including AI creativity tools, verbal provocations and legal rights applied to natural entities. It was fascinating to compare and build on the insights and ideas from these different workshop sessions in the panel discussion. I was delighted to see such an inspiring exchange of ideas.”
