My Executive MBA experience at Bayes

The value of an MBA

Most people are afraid of change. The uncertainty can be intimidating. But for me, since 2010 when I was still early on in my professional career, my goal was to study an MBA in one of the best business schools in the world. Every year that goal became more important to me and was a huge part of my future plans. Even after I started my Executive MBA , honestly, I couldn’t have imagined the kind of influence it would have on my life. Now as I’m about to graduate, I can see clearly the changes in myself.

Personal and professional growth

It is obvious to me that my MBA had a significant impact and influence on my ways of thinking and my views professionally. I learned how to make decisions and strategic changes, how to develop strong and healthy relationships in an organisation, and how to strategically plan for the short and long-term future. The experience also helps you to define your current skill set and recognise your strengths, while developing the areas that you lack specific knowledge.

From year to year you can also clearly see how rich the impact of the MBA is in terms of personal growth. For example my focus and concentration has improved – because it had to. When you’re juggling a full-time job, an MBA and family life your only option is to be organised and focused, which in turn brings you a better quality of life and the skills to manage your commitments in and outside of work.

The best part?

The international aspect of doing the Bayes MBA was the most memorable and most important part to me. The mix of socio-cultural points of view I was exposed to when working in an international company before the MBA was one of my best parts of the job and the MBA gives you that opportunity as well. Your cohort and the business school community is full of culturally and personally diverse people and I had the chance to study with different cohorts, which was a fantastic advantage because it gave me the opportunity to work with people from a variety of industries and backgrounds.

Another standout highlight for me was International Consultancy Week. It was such a unique and great experience to develop my critical and analytical perspectives and skills in an international business environment that I was unfamiliar with. I had such a memorable week in Iceland analysing and future planning for a fascinating company in the agro–tech industry.

You will discover the potential in yourself

You’ll be creative, motivated and will gain experience and abilities you need to pursue your career goals, but the true value of my MBA can be seen in how I now perceive business and the world as a graduate. And the same rules apply in my personal life. Graduating from the Executive MBA isn’t just a professional milestone, it’s a personal one too.

Overall it was an amazing journey for me from the beginning to end. I wish I could have prolonged it as much as possible! Good luck to all future MBA students.
