The Accounting Group at Bayes Business School is one of the leading research groups in accounting in Europe. Our commitment to research excellence is evident in our exceptional track record of publications in top accounting journals including the Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies and Contemporary Accounting Research. We are at the forefront of accounting research in areas such as accountability and governance, corporate communication, financial reporting, audit, security valuation, and financial intermediation. Our research commonly features in influential publications, such as the Financial Times and The Economist, and is showcased at top accounting and finance conferences.

Centre for Financial Analysis and Reporting Research (CeFARR)
The Centre for Financial Analysis and Reporting Research (CeFARR) is the Accounting Group’s research hub. CeFARR works in collaboration with practitioners to develop cutting-edge research, tailored consulting and specialised training in the areas of corporate communication, corporate disclosure, audit, financial reporting, security valuation, and financial intermediation. The Centre is at the forefront of modern accounting and capital markets research and actively engages with the practitioner community via conference presentations, research and consulting work, and bespoke training.
Each term, the Accounting group organises seminars, inviting leading scholars from around the world to share their current research.
Excellence in Teaching
The Accounting Group at Bayes Business School is committed to excellence in teaching with our staff consistently rated as ‘excellent’ by students at undergraduate, postgraduate level and executive education level. Our academics have received numerous recognitions and awards for their commitment to excellence in teaching.
The Accounting Group runs the following two degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as a PhD in Accounting.
The BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance, which runs in strategic partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), was ranked as the best undergraduate degree at the Business School in 2015 placing it among the top undergraduate degrees in its field in the UK. Graduates from our BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance and our MSc in International Accounting & Finance degrees are subsequently employed by top accounting and finance firms worldwide.
PhD in Accounting
The Accounting Group at Bayes Business School offers an internationally recognised PhD in Accounting programme. We offer a stimulating learning and research environment and the PhD programme is supported by leading experts in areas of financial accounting and capital market research. Our researchers routinely publish in top accounting journals and the research is often quoted in the financial press.
Our PhD students have access to excellent resources, equipment and research infrastructure. Including a wide range of databases, including Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters EIKON, WRDS, DataStream, Thomson One, and others. Bayes Business School's most recent graduates have been hired by Penn State, London School of Economics, University of Paris and the Bank of England.
You will work alongside a diverse faculty of PhD students and international academics to develop cutting edge research with impact on the academic and practitioner communities. You will develop high-level skills of analysis and appraisal, learn to use a range of research methodologies, and participate in leading international research conferences.
