Finance and Business Analytics Conference 2023

Join us in Greece on 7th–9th June 2023 for the Finance and Business Analytics Conference and experience three days of learning and networking. Adam Smith Business School of the University of Glasgow and Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) of City, University of London will be hosting their first joint conference in Finance and Business Analytics in the island of Lefkada, Greece, in cooperation with the Department of Regional Development of the Ionian University.

Keynote speakers


Professor Emanuele Borgonovo
Department of Decision Sciences, Bocconi University.

Emanuele Borgonovo

Emanuele Borgonovo is Full Professor at the Department of Decision Sciences of Bocconi University and Director of the Bachelor in Economics Management and Computer Science. He was Director of the ELEUSI Research Centre of Bocconi in 2008-12. In the period 2020-22 he was the President of the INFORMS Decision Analysis Society. He is co-Chair of the Technical Committee on Uncertainty Analysis of the European Safety and Reliability Association since 2014. He is co-Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Operational Research, Editorial Board member of Risk Analysis and other journals, a Scientific Advisor of Springer International Series in Operations Research and Management Science, and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Fondazione Silvio Tronchetti Provera.

Professor Dimitris Petmezas
Durham University Business School.

Professor Dimitris Petmezas is Chair in Finance in his second tenure at Durham University Business School, having previously held full-time positions at Surrey Business School as well as being a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the NYU Stern School of Business. He studied a BA in Economics at Aristotle University and MSc in Finance and Investment as well as PhD in Finance at Durham University. He was the designer and founding director of the MSc in Accounting and Finance and MSc in Banking and Finance of Surrey Business School. He is a visiting academic in several European Business Schools teaching in EMBA, MBA and MSc programmes.

Authors will be informed of the outcome of their submission within 10 working days.

Publication opportunities

International Journal of Finance and Economics

The conference organizers, in liaison with the editors of the International Journal of Finance and Economics, will invite the authors of selected high-quality papers that fall within the general remit of the journal to submit their manuscripts for consideration for publication. The editors will ensure that the selected papers undergo the normal reviewing process on a fast-track basis.

Decisions in Economics and Finance

A special issue dedicated to novel applications of machine learning, econometrics, big data, quantitative risk management in asset management and investment problems will be hosted by Decisions in Economics and Finance. Topics such as climate risk, green finance, insurtech and multiple hypothesis testing in financial datasets are particularly welcome. This special issue will feature papers presented at the Finance and Business Analytics Conference 2023, but high-quality papers from outside the conference will also be considered.

  • Early bird rate: £350
  • Standard rate: £450
  • Student rate: £300

The fee includes refreshments, lunches (two days), and the conference gala dinner – further updates to follow.

Accompanying person rate: £150 (this fee is intended for the person who wants to accompany a participant to the conference gala dinner but will not participate in the scientific programme). If this applies to you, please get in touch via FBA2023@city.ac.uk clearly stating the case in the email subject and you will receive further instructions on how to proceed.

The deadline for registration to present accepted research works is 1st May 2023.

All participants, including presenters, are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.

For a paper to be listed in the conference programme, payment from at least one author is required by 1st May 2023. Participants who withdraw before 1st May 2023 will be refunded, subject to a cancellation fee of £150. Participants who cancel after 1st May 2023 will not be entitled to a refund.
