Name: Manuj Shah
Country of origin: India
Graduation year: 2021

I chose to study MSc Actuarial Management at Bayes Business School due to the course structure and the impressive faculty.

Also, the location of the school in central London and the wide alumni network were a key deciding factor for me.

I was excited to join the Bayes Business School community, network with these alumni and have the chance to land a job in London.

Prior to this course, I had completed two internships with leading life insurers in India and I was sure that this career path to become an actuary was the right direction for me.

Having completed 10 Actuarial papers, this master’s provided exemptions for the remaining higher level actuarial papers.

The term-wise structure of the MSc seemed very logical and well planned.

The course was hectic, but I enjoyed every single moment of it. I enjoyed lectures with Dr Douglas Wright and Dr Iqbal Owadally and felt the information and knowledge I gathered in their modules was extremely useful.

The group coursework was also really fun, it allowed us to socialise with people from different countries and cultures all with varied backgrounds and experiences. It was great to make new friends.

Currently I am a Pricing Analyst at Medical Protection Society (MPS). The Pricing Analyst is a technical analyst role responsible for pool-level, technical and retail pricing, including annual updates.

My future plan is still to become a qualified Actuary and studying the MSc Actuarial Management has brought me one step closer to becoming qualified by providing exemptions to the Actuarial papers and helped me in landing a job in London.

Studying the MSc in Actuarial Management was definitely worth it.

To anyone considering this course I would advise them to ask questions, take one day at a time and also remember that consistency is key!
