Why did you decide to study at the Business School (formerly Cass)?
The Business School is one of the best in the country and I knew from the very beginning that reading Business Studies at this University will give me the education I desired. The structure of the courses and their practicality is unique among business schools and thus, the Business School offers students the necessary skills needed in the working environment.
What was your favourite thing about studying at the Business School and City, University of London?
I loved the environment and the people that surrounded me. Every day I got to meet someone from a culture that I might not know much about, someone who has completely different passions or someone who has dreams similar to mine. Through the people I have met I’ve learned to push myself and to always want to achieve more.
What kind of things were you involved in outside your course?
University is the best time to get out of your comfort zone and explore new things and the Business School and City are an amazing place for that. With over 100 societies, there was always something going on. I was part of AIESEC and Enactus, societies that focus on volunteering activities and partner with businesses to create value. I went volunteering for 7 weeks in Morocco after my first year of studies and learned about the country’s culture – a truly amazing opportunity. I got involved in societies that are tailored to the business school and presided the the Business School Consulting Society for a year. I was also able to found a society that I was passionate about and this is how the story of ACE (Arts, Culture & Entertainment) started. Sports are very popular at City and I was part of the Squash team, competing for my University.
Working as a Student Ambassador gave me the chance to add real value to students and help them learn about City and everything it has to offer. I was also part of the Widening Participation Scheme that partners with local schools and promotes higher education. Knowing that I can make an impact made my studies even more meaningful and I enjoyed every activity that allowed me to do that.
Have you had the opportunity to do a placement as part of your course?
The Business School has great links with the industry and every week there are events that help you connect with employers. I have been on a placement year at Morgan Stanley which allowed me to put my degree in action and work with some of industry’s best professionals. This helped me shape my career and made me aware of opportunities available after graduation. After my placement year, I spent the summer at BlackRock, interning in the Aladdin Business. I am thankful for all these opportunities and graduated knowing that I have valuable work experience behind me.
