The Summer School experience

Social events

The Summer School offers many extracurricular activities to enhance your London experience. London really comes alive in the summer months and students will have plenty of opportunities to make the most of what the city has to offer.

Every year the School organises a programme of social events to allow students to get to know the fellow Summer School students, from across the ten different modules. Previous organised activities have included a bus tour of London on a classic Routemaster London double decker, a river cruise on the Thames and visit to a traditional London pub.

Being based in central London our students take advantage of the many attractions a short walk from campus. Some local attractions within easy walking distance include:

Then if you want to explore further afield in London, just hop on the tube at one of our local stations or hire a Santander bike from the rack at the end of Bunhill Row.

Professional opportunities

The School also offers professional events to students. Our well-connected academics regularly use their London contacts to bring in guest speakers for the whole summer school cohort to experience more about current business issues in general.

Recent speakers have included Marco Boldini who at the time was Head of Financial Services Regulatory (Legal) Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe LLP and Suchitra Nair Director EMEA Centre for Regulatory Strategy at Deloitte. Guest speaker lectures by our senior alumni and advisory board members are also scheduled regularly throughout the programme.

The Summer School also offers students a chance to improve their CV and professional profiles for their future job opportunities. Bayes Careers and the Professional Development team will provide optional careers workshops and skills sessions that students may attend if they wish.
