Executive PhD student profiles
Below recent graduates and current students comment on their experience as Executive PhD students at Bayes.
Dr Richard Mason
The Executive PhD programme provided the foundational support and personalized resources to help me successfully accomplish meaningful research while continuing a full-time job. By collaborating with and learning from seasoned academic experts candidates can combine practical business knowledge while developing the advanced research skills to answer important questions within a four year period. As a result of the programme, I conducted and published the findings of three empirical studies examining the behavioural factors that influence how U.S. employees save for retirement.
As part of my PhD in Finance I will research financial market infrastructure, high-frequency trading, and investment opportunities in every day changing financial markets. I cannot imagine a better place to do this research than the Faculty of Finance at the Business School. Having a PhD in Finance will be a testament of my skills and help in the advancement of my career to the next level.
As a management consulting practitioner, I enrolled on the programme with a desire to learn how to ask better questions. The course has certainly lived up to the reputation of rigor and academic excellence for which the Business School is renowned. For me the highlights have been bonding with my cohort and the interaction with my supervisors. I enjoy the constant challenge and the adventure that the PhD programme provides. Each component of the program – from the courses, the faculty, my cohort and tackling my research topic – uniquely dovetails to provide me with stimulating and rewarding experiences.
