Protests in Iran

A statement from Bayes Business School.

A statement from Professor Andre Spicer, Dean, Bayes Business School

We wish to express our deep concern at the violent crackdowns on protests for women’s rights in Iran. There have been daily protests since Mahsa (Zhina) Amini’s death in September. These protestors are calling for fundamental rights for women and girls. Many of these protests have taken place across Iran’s university campuses.  We hope this disturbing situation will be resolved peacefully.

As a global, inclusive business school, we champion the rights of women and girls through our Global Women’s Leadership Programme. Universities exist to create and disseminate new knowledge and push boundaries. We support the right of the academic community to live without fear, to think and speak freely, and to drive change.

Our thoughts are also with our staff, students, alumni and friends of Bayes who may be affected by these events.  Support is available for students here and we would encourage anyone affected to get in touch with our support services.
