Professor Vasso Ioannidou appointed to ESRB’s Advisory Scientific Committee
Professor Ioannidou, a member of the Centre for Banking Research and recently appointed as Associate Dean for Research at Bayes, was announced as one of just six new members from across Europe at the Board’s 48th regular meeting. The appointment is for an initial term of four years and will commence from May 2023.
The ESRB was established in December 2010 as a response to the Global Financial Crisis. It followed consultation on how financial supervision could be strengthened to better protect European citizens and rebuild trust in the financial system as a whole, rather than solely individual firms.
The Advisory Scientific Committee performs a key role within the body, conducting research to inform macroprudential decision making as a major contributor towards its overall purpose of helping to prevent and mitigate systemic risk.
Commenting on her appointment, Professor Ioannidou said:
“I am happy and proud to be offered this opportunity, and look forward to working with fellow committee members to offer research insights and maintain high standards on macroprudential and systemic risk issues.”
