Cass Business School began a year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary  with a unique alumni event at The Dorchester, London.

Hosted by the Dean of Cass, Professor Marianne Lewis, and organised by the Alumni Relations team, the evening marked Cass’ many achievements over the past half century and also looked towards the next 50 years.

Over 400 alumni attended the event, travelling from as far as Singapore, Turkey, Brazil and Toronto.

The celebration featured an exclusive interview with Cass alumnus Mr Muhtar Kent, CEO and Chairman of the Coca-Cola Company (Administrative Sciences MBA, 1977), conducted by City, University of London alumnus Mr William Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Dow Jones and Publisher of The Wall Street Journal (Periodical Journalism 1991).

In a wide ranging discussion, Mr Kent reflected on the lessons that he has learned during his long and distinguished career as one of the world’s leading businessmen.

Mr Kent and Mr Lewis were also joined onstage by Professor Marianne Lewis to discuss the importance of strong leadership, mentoring in the workplace and issues such as feminism, sustainability and Brexit.

Professor Lewis said she was delighted that Mr Kent and Mr Lewis were able to take such a prominent role in launching the  Cass 50th anniversary.

“This was a very special occasion and I am so pleased that Muhtar and William, both valued members of our alumni community, were able to join us.  They exemplify the extraordinary attributes of our graduates – successful, passionate, innovative and globally minded.”

“Our alumni are right at the heart of Cass and we are honoured that so many of them were able to join us.  It marks the beginning of a year of celebrations and we have an impressive programme of events planned – watch this space for further details,” said Professor Lewis.
