Cass staff members have been honoured by students in this year’s Learning Enhancement Awards.

The awards are an opportunity for City students to recognise staff for the support that they give. The ceremony was put on by CIty University Students' Union and LEaD.

David Smith won the 2016 Teaching Award for the member of academic staff who has provided outstanding teaching and student support to Cass Business School students. Students commented that David “has gone over and above anything I previously experienced to teach us”, and “is really dedicated – he’s the best among the lecturers in the Faculty of Actuarial Science”. The other nominees for this award were Aneesh Bannerjee, Valeria Vitkara, Lorenzo Trapani, Hans Frankort and Cliff Oswick.

Tony Whiteman took away the 2016 Student Support Award for the member of staff who has provided amazing support to students this year, helping them to succeed in their academic career and beyond. MBA students commented that Tony “gives without expecting anything back, he’s truly selfless and deserving beyond any other”.

Aditya Vikas who is currently in his third year of the BSc Management was also shortlisted for  the 2016 Programme Representative of the Year. He received a silver award in recognition of being the student who has made the greatest difference to their course.

Deputy Dean, Professor Jo Silvester, said: “These awards are significant because they represent an opportunity for City University students to recognise and celebrate those academic, professional staff and students who truly make a positive difference to the university experience. Please join me in congratulating the winners.”
