Overview

Akane Vallery Uchida is a PhD Candidate in Management Strategy at Bayes Business School.

She holds an MBA Finance with Distinction from Bayes (formerly Cass). She also holds an MA Finance (Economic Policy) from CeFiMS SOAS, University of London, an MA Creative Writing from City, University of London and a BSc Mathematics with Modern Languages (Spanish and Chinese).

As part of her MBA, Akane looked at digitalisation in the publishing industry and the impact it has on the value chain and profit models from the perspective of the content creator, the author. This sparked her interest further into researching the impact technological innovations have on business models and revenue structures.

Before her PhD studies, Akane worked in finance for over 13 years in Tokyo and London in a variety of roles but mostly covering foreign exchange markets facing institutional and corporate clients. With this experience, she also has a keen interest in financial technology and developments that lead to the democratisation of investments.
