Dr Justin Davis-Smith CBE, Director of the Charity Master's Programme

Justin Davis-SmithJustin is Director of the Charity Master's programme and a Senior lecturer in Voluntary Sector Management. He was previously chief executive of Volunteering England, director of the Institute for Volunteering Research and Executive director of volunteering at NCVO. He has over 20 years researching and leading in the voluntary sector and has advised the UK Government and the United Nations on the development of volunteering policy. He wrote the volunteering strategy for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and has published numerous articles and books on volunteering and the voluntary sector.

Dr Peter Grant

Dr Peter GrantDr Peter Grant is one of the UK’s leading practitioners in public and charitable funding.

He has published widely on philanthropy, CSR, and history (notably the period of the First World War). Peter's research and consultancy clients include government departments and charitable foundations.

Professor Paul Palmer

Paul Palmer Professor Palmer is a professor of Voluntary Sector Management and also a Director at CCE.

Paul has extensive knowledge of charity finance, management and governance issues. He was a member of the Charity Commission SORP committee from 2000-2005, and a Past President of the Royal Society of Public Health and a Director of the NCVO Trading Company.

Dr Rick James

Rick JamesRick James has more than 25 years’ experience working with NGOs in Africa, Latin America and Europe. He has worked with INTRAC since its inception more than 20 years ago. He focuses on organisational change specialising in strategy and leadership development. He has consulted for more than 100 NGOs, faith-based organisations and official aid agencies, and has published over 50 articles and books. He has a PhD in NGO Management from City, University of London and is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Faculty of Management at Bayes Business School. Rick teaches on the CCE's MSc NGO Management.

Professor Jenny Harrow

Jenny HarrowProfessor Jenny Harrow is a Professor of Voluntary Sector Management at CCE and she leads the Centre’s research interests in voluntary and community sector organisations.

Jenny is the Principal Investigator for the School's ESRC Centre for Charitable Giving and Philanthropy; both Co-Director of the Centre Hub; and PI for its specialist research programme on institutionalised giving structures. She is also a member of the Faculty of Management’s Centre for Research in Corporate Governance and was formerly Co-Director of the Bayes Business School Doctoral Programme.

Professor Stephen Lee

Stephen LeeStephen Lee is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Voluntary Sector Management at the Bayes Business School. He is the Course Leader MSC in Non-Profit Fundraising & Strategic Marketing and teaches Fundraising and the Law, Fundraising Ethics and Fundraising and Marketing Strategy.

He has been College Secretary at Henley Management College and Faculty Director Strategy and Professor of Marketing at Henley Business School where he also established and ran the Centre for Voluntary Sector Management. Professor Lee entered the voluntary sector in 1982 as Deputy Chief Executive at the Charities Advisory Trust and Directory of Social Change.
