Best Young Actuary

Best Young Actuary Competition

We are holding a competition for the title of Bayes Best Young Actuary of 2023. Entrants will be invited to take a 3-hour on-line examination in June, which will be assessed by a panel of qualified actuaries at the Bayes Business School.

The winner will receive a cash prize of £500.  There will also be prizes for other entrants who submit outstanding exam scripts.

The examination

The exam will require entrants to reply to two letters from fictional correspondents with queries requiring the application of technical knowledge covered in Subject CM1 of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. Entrants will be given specimen exam questions (with solutions) and other revision material before the exam.

The competition is open to actuarial students who have passed (or obtained exemption from) Subject CM1 of the IFoA in either the 2021 or 2022 calendar year. Applicants will be required to attach documentary evidence that they have done so in the on-line application form.
